Electrical & Embedded Systems Engineer

Lead development and production of electronic systems on commercial robots

At Augean Robotics we are pioneering commercial robots into dynamic unstructured outdoor environments and building the future where collaborative robots work alongside people while laying the foundation for expansive high-value autonomy. Today, our launch product, Burro, is shipping out in 6 packs to some of the world’s largest growers, and we are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer who will develop, maintain, and scale the hardware backbone of our robots. As an early team member, you will contribute directly to our continued success. You will also hold meaningful equity, and grow as we accelerate our growth.

What you’ll do:
Our newest generation robots are shipping today, and we’re looking for an incredibly talented engineer to pioneer electronic and embedded solutions for a growing fleet of autonomous farm robots. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the prototyping, developing, sourcing, and maintenance of reliable hardware for robots around the globe.

Role:
● Design and revise electrical and embedded subsystems in the current and next generation Burro robots
● Work closely with suppliers and contract manufacturing partners to optimize performance and enable scalability as we
transition to manufacturing hundreds of robots each year
● Manage product development timeline
● Produce PCB and wiring diagrams suitable for manufacture
● Rapidly produce proof-of-concepts and prototype new features

Requirements:
● Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, plus relevant graduate degree or equivalent industry
experience
● Strong interest in robotics
● Experience in all phases of product development, from concept through prototyping to Verification and Validation, to
Manufacturing, including design for manufacturing (DFM)
● Skilled embedded systems debugger, expert in surface mount soldering

Desirable:
● Experience with cameras, camera interfaces, computer vision, signal processing
● Experience with Serial communication
● Proficiency in 3D modeling and design tools like SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.
● Thermal management
● Understanding of electro-mechanical systems (motors/control, relays, safety, automation)
● Understanding of and interest in automotive or other ground vehicle systems
