Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer

Lead development and production of mechanical systems on commercial robots

At Augean Robotics we are pioneering commercial robots into dynamic unstructured outdoor environments and building the future where collaborative robots work alongside people while laying the foundation for expansive high-value autonomy. Today, our launch product, Burro, is shipping out in 6 packs to some of the world’s largest growers, and we are seeking a mechanical/mechatronics engineer who will develop, maintain, and scale the hardware backbone of our robots. As an early team member, you will contribute directly to our continued success. You will also hold meaningful equity, and grow as we accelerate our growth.

What you’ll do:
Our newest generation robots are shipping today, and we’re looking for an incredibly talented engineer to pioneer mechanical
solutions for a growing fleet of autonomous farm robots. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the prototyping,
developing, sourcing, and maintenance of reliable hardware for robots around the globe.

Role:
● Design and revise mechanical subsystems in the current and next generation Burro robots
● Work closely with suppliers and contract manufacturing partners to optimize performance and enable scalability as we
transition to manufacturing hundreds of robots each year
● Manage product development timeline
● Produce engineering drawing of components to be manufactured
● Perform fatigue and FEA on critical components
● Rapidly produce proof-of-concepts and prototype new features

Requirements:
● Undergraduate degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or related field, plus a relevant graduate degree or
equivalent industry experience
● Strong interest in robotics
● Mastery of 3D modeling and design tools such as SolidWorks/Autodesk
● Experience in all phases of product development cycle, from concept through prototyping to Verification and
Validation, to Manufacturing, including design for manufacturing (DFM)

Desirable:
● Sheet metal design and fabrication
● Thermal management
● Experience with electro-mechanical systems (motors/control, relays, automation)
● Understanding of and interest in automotive or other ground vehicle systems

Benefits:
● Competitive salary and benefits (medical / dental / vision)
● Generous early-stage equity
● Flexible vacation policy
● Be at ground zero of the robot revolution

About us:
Our mission is to free people from tedious tasks outdoors, beginning with collaborative robots that help farm laborers work more productively, while also laying the base for ever more expansive autonomy where it is needed most. As a full stack company, sitting at the nexus of hardware/robotics, autonomy, and artificial intelligence, we are launching the first generation of robots into the world’s largest industry – agriculture, and solving the #1 challenge facing our food system – labor scarcity. We are backed by some of the top US agtech and tech VCs, and based in Philadelphia, PA.
